Sacrifice
Today's post is written by one of my great friends, Erica :)
Verse of the Day: “When you fast,
do not look gloomy like the hypocrites. They neglect their appearance, so that
they may appear to others to be fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received
their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that
you may not appear to be fasting except to your father who is hidden. And your
Father who sees what is hidden will repay you” -Matthew 6:16-18
When I think about Lent now, I
think of a special time of preparing our hearts, and growing closer to Christ
before celebrating his resurrection. Though not that long ago I thought Lent as
just being a time I had to give up something. I would worry about what to give
up, what I had to sacrifice, not wanting it to be anything I really liked
because that would too hard. But doesn’t He deserve our trying our hardest to
please Him? I was missing the whole pint, that offering up my little sacrifices
either great or small, done out of love pleases Him, who for us made the
ultimate sacrifice.
Challenge of the Day: Carry your
cross with love, don’t complain about your difficulties, and offer them up.
Song of the Day: Lay me down by
