Proud to be Catholic

Verse of the Day: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12

One day after youth group I was driving home by myself, so I did what any normal teenager would do, I turned up the music as loud as I could without blowing out my eardrums and started rocking out to music. I love listening to Christian music so K-love and Air 1 were my immediate go to’s. I was singing my heart out and praising Jesus so hard in my car, then It struck me how many people would get arrested or killed for doing what I was doing right then.

A lot of you guys know there has been and continues to be a Christian persecutions around the world. It’s so crazy to me that these faithful wonderful Christians are getting killed because they love our Lord. Then it made me so sad to think that everyday Catholics are afraid of showing their faith outside of church. We sit idle when people badmouth the church, or take the Lord’s name in vain, we are embarrassed to talk about Jesus, we don’t want to do the sign of the cross because we are ashamed of what people we say. We are ashamed of the man who died so we could live while there are others who are dying to make his name known. Now I’m not saying you have to be martyred for Jesus. But what I am saying is that we need to stop being ashamed of Jesus. He loves us so much! We should be proud to be Catholics. If you guys think we are too young to do anything for the church or for humanity look at today’s verse of the day. God asks us as the youth of our church to be an example to others. We should share the love of Christ with everyone we encounter, because He is so worth it!

Challenge of the Day: Today do one thing to share the faith with someone else
