Book Club and Blessings

This past Tuesday, I wrapped up my first book club with a trip to the ice cream shop. I looked around myself at the table and had an immense love in my heart for the girls around me. This experience of women's ministry book club has brought me so much wisdom and new friendships.

"How do you have time for book club?" was a question I got on a weekly bases whenever I said I was busy Thursday nights. You see I didn't really see book club as a big commitment, I love reading so reading one chapter a week was not bad at all plus our book was a definite page turner!

Our small group of girls would read one chapter of My sister the Saints a week and meet Thursdays to discuss what we gained from the reading, how it touched us and how it caused us to reflect on our own lives. Week after week I was amazed with how much the girls were willing to share about their personal lives and personal struggles, every meeting was a blessing and ended in a immense gain of knowledge.

My Sister the Saints is a book written by Colleen Campbell where she writes about various stages in her life and which various saints helped her through her struggles and helped her persevere in her faith. I absolutely loved this book and hands down recommend it to any one who is interested in a good read.

Altogether my first taste of a book club was amazing and it is something that I am most definitely going to take part in the rest of my time here at Franciscan and life in general. Books are such a beautiful way to gain knowledge, perspective and spiritual growth.
