The Importance of Christ Centered Friendships
I remember my freshman and sophomore year of high school, longing for a friend. Not just a friend that I would talk to just at school (I had those), but a true friend, a best friend. I didn't have anyone in my life that I could talk to like a best friend except my family. I remember asking God that if he was listening all I wanted was a friend, like the ones I would see in movies. The ones where the girl and her best friend would talk about everything, have sleepovers, and just be goofy. I longed for someone to accept me and love me as a friend.
God truly did answer my prayer because my sophomore year I met a wonderful girl named Jacquelene who invited me to a youth retreat. From then on my life completely changed. After I asked Jesus into my life I was so joyful! God showered me with the blessings of friends. Friends who showed me how to live a virtuous loving life. There is no doubt in my mind that God gave me these friends to help me through my rough times.
Having Christ centered friendships is such a beautiful blessing. I have friends that I can talk to about anything, even though we don't talk about God every minute of every day he is at the center of everything he is the rock on which we built our friendship on.
I am a true believer that you become who you spend time with, this is why it is especially important to choose your friends wisely. I feel like my best friend and I are basically the same person and I am totally ok with that, because I know the person she makes me is a better version of myself. Your friends should bring out the best in you not the worst in you. Everyday my friends shape me as a person, I am constantly inspired by their actions, words, and lives. They bring me so many laughs, hugs, and happiness. I am so thankful to have them and I am blessed that God handpicked each of them to be a part of my life.
